New Orleans Jail Makes Room for BP Execs

OK, not quite. Its loyal that New Orleans is floating plans to enhance the internal jail, the scandalous Orleans Parish Prison, even though it already has the largest series of&jail beds per&capita of any city in the nation. Its additionally loyal that&most of us would similar to to see some&BP management team there, languishing&in pre-trial apprehension along with the&hundreds of bad New Orleanians who cant have bail after committing&minor offenses. Unfortunately, we are doubtful to see this happen. But its&good to know that there will be&plenty of room for Tony Hayward and&his entourage&if it does.

Yesterday, the ACLU of Louisiana released the following statement:

The ACLU of Louisiana calls on the New Orleans City Council to reject Sheriff Marlin Gusmans plan to enhance Orleans Parish Prison (OPP) to 5,832 beds, large sufficient for 1 bed for each 60 residents. OPP, now being investigated by the U.S. Department of Justice, is already the largest per capita prison in the republic and the Citys own Planning Commission has endorsed a not as big sized jail. The Sheriffs ask is scheduled to be listened by the Council this week
